Waxing Faqs
Pre-Waxing FAQs
How long does waxing last?
Typically, the results of waxing last between 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the individual’s hair growth cycle.
Is waxing painful?
Pain levels vary from person to person. Some people experience more discomfort than others, but the pain generally decreases with regular waxing as hair grows back finer and thinner.
How should I prepare for a waxing appointment?
Exfoliate the area gently a day before your appointment to remove dead skin cells. Avoid tanning, moisturizing, or applying any lotions on the day of your waxing session.
How long should my hair be for waxing?
Hair should be at least 1/4 inch long (about the length of a grain of rice) to allow the wax to grip the hair properly.
Can I wax if I have sensitive skin?
Yes, but inform your esthetician about your skin sensitivity. Rest assured, we use products formulated for sensitive skin and take extra precautions to minimize irritation.
Should I avoid waxing if I’m on certain medications?
Yes, certain medications like Retin-A, Accutane, or other skin medications can make the skin more sensitive and prone to damage. Consult your doctor before waxing if you are on these medications.
Specific Waxing Services FAQs
What is the difference between a bikini wax and a Brazilian wax?
-
Bikini wax removes hair along the bikini line (normally 2-3 fingers width) and some from the top.
-
Brazilian wax removes all or preferred amount of hair from the pubic area, including the front, back, and everything in between.
Can I wax if I’m pregnant?
Yes, you can wax during pregnancy, though it may be more uncomfortable due to increased skin sensitivity. Inform your esthetician about your pregnancy so they can make any necessary adjustments.
How long does a waxing session take?
The duration depends on the area being waxed:
-
Small areas like the upper lip or chin can take about 10-15 minutes
-
Spa Eyebrow shaping takes 30 mins
-
Brazilian 20-30 mins
-
Bikini 15 mins
-
larger areas like legs or back may take 45-60 minutes.
Is it safe to wax over moles or skin tags?
It’s best to avoid waxing directly over moles or skin tags as this can cause irritation or damage. Your esthetician can work around these areas.
Post-Waxing FAQs
What should I do if I get ingrown hairs?
Exfoliate the area gently and regularly. Use an ingrown hair serum or lotion to help prevent and treat ingrown hairs (FUR is my preferred brand). If an ingrown hair becomes inflamed, consult a dermatologist.
How soon can I get waxed again?
You can get waxed again once the hair has grown to at least 1/4 inch in length, typically after 3-6 weeks.
Can I tan after waxing?
Avoid tanning (both sunbathing and tanning beds) for at least 24-48 hours after waxing, as the skin is more sensitive and prone to burning.
Why should I avoid hot showers or saunas after waxing?
Hot showers and saunas can irritate the freshly waxed skin and cause redness, swelling, or discomfort. It’s best to stick to lukewarm water for at least 24-48 hours post-waxing.
